A student of classical and jazz guitar since the age of 12, Alek is also a versatile
drummer and has performed and recorded as the lead guitarist for the successful indie groove-core band
Kill by Inches.
Journeying into electronic music in 1993, he has DJ-ed at venues throughout New York
and since 1999 focused on music production. With a sound that both spans accross
genres and doesn't disappoint purists, his tracks have appeared on an array of
labels, including
Bush Records,
Kazumi,
ExtraBall,
Gotham Grooves,
PlanetNatus and others. His involvement in the music scene also includes co-founding
the UNION series of Loft parties in NYC, as well as the SHIPWRECKED boat parties.
2003 proved to be a big year for Alek, with the Funk Matter EP receiving high praise
and playtime from a number of artists including Carl Cox, Bryan Zentz and Agent Orange.
The subsequent Adam Jay remix followed the trend, appearing on Carl Cox's Global
Underground F.A.C.T. 2 Australia - mixed CD.
Having experimented with a wide range of genres, covering Techno, House and IDM, Alek's
sound is a merger of musical styles. He likes to describe it as "the percussive drive of
Tribal Techno and Tech-House with the experimental elements of IDM."
Whether he's DJ-ing or producing in his studio, Alek's long music history gives him the wide
perspective necessary to blend diverse styles successfully, while maintaining a strong Techno edge.
FAVORITES: Thomas Krome, Hertz, Plasmatics, Samuel L Session, DJ CZR, and many more.
